5.3. Syllabus

Syllabus (or programme)

 

Theoretical programme (22.5 hours, 0.9 ECTS). The programme will cover the theory of the subject as follows:
1. Functional questions: a) Description (of people and objects); b) Quantification (of objects and products);
c) Opinions and preferences; d) Physical and emotional states; e) Weather conditions.
2. Grammatical questions: a) Personal and adverbial pronouns; b) Indefinites and quantitatives; c) Aspects of negation; d) Relative pronouns; e) Relational elements; f) Aspects of verbs (subjunctive, future, conditional and imperative forms, use of “ser” and “estar”).

Practical programme: The practical programme will follow a functional-communicative methodology: using various audiovisual documents and journalistic and literary texts, students will be able to improve their knowledge about day-to-day Catalan life and culture, while focussing on grammatical contents. Theoretical and practical aspects of the subject will both be covered in the classes, meaning that the face-to-face practical activities will be integrated: a) Grammatical and lexical activities from various educational viewpoints to practice the contents covered in theoretical classes; b) Oral comprehension activities (escolta i...), songs; c) Written comprehension activities (Reading and multiple-choice or true/false exercises to check understanding); d) Oral production activities (role play exercises, interviews, etc.), e) Written production activities (writing of various kinds of short texts: letters, notes, simple descriptions, etc.).
